BOISE AVE REMODEL- A HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE SPACE This PAGE IS FOR contractors and suppliers WORKING ON THE REMODEL OF OUR HOMEI have created this space to store the links to our remodeling plans for bidding and reference for the property at
3705 E Boise Ave Boise, Idaho For questions contact Raini- 208-363-0100 or Doug 208-859-2923 Please scroll to read about our family and our situation- Our family is in great need of a handicap accessible space for our disabled grandkids and my husband, Doug. Doug experienced a spinal cord injury in the fall of 2022, having surgery in January of 2023 and is now classified as an incomplete paraplegic since April of 2023. He, also has Ehlers Danlos, a connective tissue disease that causes pain and weakness.. Sometimes an injury can ignite it after it has been dormant all your life. We just learned this after our grandkids were diagnosed. This is genetic and our grandkids have it too. We are blessed and astonished that Doug is still able to walk, most days, and to do so un-assisted although a bit impaired. He however cannot squat or kneel or twist etc any longer without pain and increased loss of feeling... and he tires quickly. He is also a fall and trip risk. and ladders are a no-no! We are so thankful Doug is still able to do the hard work he loves using hand controls he was already using in his various pieces of equipment prior to his injury! However, it's not easy, the getting in and out of the equipment can wear him out quickly and stairs are hard and a fall hazard for him, some days he struggles to walk at all and pain is a frequent unwelcome visitor. We are also raising five of our grandkids whom we have had for the past 9 years, all of whom are special-needs, with autism and learning issues who also have Ehlers Danlos or EDS or a pediatric version. Actually, EDS kids often have autism. The youngest two of them frequently use wheelchairs in the community due to weakness, joint and limb pain and difficulty in walking any distance. They all have scoliosis and back pain and numerous other issues and diagnosis as well, and al lof this is common with EDS. Because of these issues we are working to build an addition on our tri-level ranch home to accommodate Doug, the girls, and family in general with a handicap accessible space. Currently it is not very accessible to them. Imagine a tri-level with walkers and wheelchairs! Rather laughable! So, the girls often drag themselves around on days they cannot walk due to pain., or they stay in their room. We have looked for homes that would work better for us, but for a family of 8, needing wheelchair access and handicap mobile spaces the prices are well over 1.9 million and would not have room for Doug's business or equipment. This remodel IS our most cost-effective option. WE ARE REQUESTING HELP & DONATIONS We are also unabashedly requesting help, discounts, even donations of time, skills and resources wherever possible because of our unique circumstance. The Treasure Valley is and has been our home and we have given generously for many years. Now we need help, and we are asking, please, help us where you can, to create a safe and functional space for our family and we will continue to give and raise kids that give back! On top of the expense of the remodel we have just bought a much-needed Transit van to hold all 8 people in our immediate family as well as two wheelchairs. Not an easy find and they aren't cheap. We are thankful to a wonderful family, the Goring's, in Cheyenne, WY. for selling us their van at cost! We actually met them in a resturaunt in Cheyenne, Wyoming while eating breakfast during our trip for our grandaughters graduation! God provided our needs in a unique way, underbudget, after several months of searching the US! Go God Go! WHATS IN IT FOR YOU! You know that super good feeling you get when you just know you did the right thing and it helped someone? YOU GET THAT!!!! But we can also offer prime signage space right on Boise Avenue near Barber Park with excellent visual accessibility on right on the street for advertisement of your business in exchange for your help with our remodel! You must provide the signage within the city's guidelines. I can also provide space on my website and our company's website for promotion and signage and am willing to publicly promote companies that help on my Facebook page on a regular basis as we update my friends and followers on the progress of this adventure! |
